NEWS

Hello Treasure hunters. First, we want to apologize for being away. We faced some very tough trials and tribulations over the last several weeks that just escalated. The last several weeks have been difficult for us as business. We have some updates on the treasure hunt but are going to share a story with your first. You can skip to the bottom if you do not want to read all this. Prior to the covid shutdown we have been having visits from Fire Inspectors. All went well during our inspections, but they wanted one change from us. They wanted out Certificate of Occupancy to specifically state we are and escape room. So, we hired an architect to redraw our location and apply for the occupancy permit with the specific wording. It came back to us that the city because of this application now wanted to change the use of our building to a “Special Amusement Building” Something kind of like an indoor amusement park ride. Due to the massive changes this required of our building we fought this as other escape rooms in the city are not classified this way. When all seemed lost and we were planning to move out we were referred to a building code lawyer by the name of Bill Loveland of Loveland law, who told us this would be no problem to change. He boasted about his 30 years in dealing with things like this and how he had connections at the city building and zoning department. He told us he filed an appeal with the city and we would wait to hear back. We waited and did not hear back. The person we talked to at the city could not find record of an appeal being filed. We tried to contact Mr. Loveland who has been dodging out calls, not returning emails, and being “busy” when we arrive at his office. As this lost us valuable time in moving out and getting a new location we had to act. The last two weeks we have been in meetings and conference calls trying to get this changed ourselves. The code the city is using to classify us this way is written by the International Code Council. We even contacted then, and they stated we do not fit this dentition under the code. However, the plans examiner who is responsible for this decision will not budge. We as of right now have been forced to shut down our operations and move out of the Bethel Road Location As our lease was up we had to make this move quick and it took up most of our time to disassemble everything and remove it all before we had to make another lease payment. We have also been touring new buildings that would meet the criteria the city official wants us to have. Unfortunately, this has not and is not in the near future going to provide me with the time to continue the treasure hunt. I (the owner) will be seeking a new job so that I can keep my employees in their jobs with my company which they enjoy. This will be the main reason I will not have the time to keep up on the treasure hunt. We will be stopping all subscriptions, but the clues and the treasure remain. If you can still find it, it is yours. All clues that are on the site are all the clues to lead to the prize. We will check on it and the way points once a month. Please keep us in your thoughts as we hope to be able to reopen Lockology Escape Rooms again in the future. We will be moving our most popular rooms to the Powell location in the next few months.
